CAMP FACILITIES: We have use of a classroom and spacious motor room with a stage. We have access to a playground for recess.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Joshua’s Stage is the premiere enrichment program for individuals with a wide range of special needs, featuring after-school programs, camps, workshops, and more including activities in theater arts, arts and crafts, dance, music, photography, and create-a-story. Participants enrolled in programs at Joshua’s Stage have the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity, increase their self-confidence, and build their social skills in a warm and welcoming environment. Typical developing individuals are encouraged to participate in our programs. All staff and volunteers pass a background check. Our ratios are one instructor for every three participants.

The Creative Outlet Method is the process used to enhance every participant’s unique abilities while providing them with the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity, increase their self-confidence, and build their social skills.

The HIPPP Rules and the A+ Audience Type are positive behavior supports that our Founder and Executive Director, Joshua Levy, created to help the conductor of the activities manage the participants’ behaviors.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: SMC is designed for singers and modern rock band instrumentalists. Our vocalist track will teach students proper breathing and singing techniques, using chorale, show tunes, and a cappella pieces. Our rock band track is created specifically to challenge singers and students on drums, piano/keys, ukulele, bass, acoustic, and electric guitar players.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: This year we will again bring guest faculty from around the country to work with dancers in the disciplines of Ballet, Modern Dance, Musical Theatre and Classical Jazz.

The workshop will be held July 1-26 and is available to dancers ages 8 and up.

Each week dancers will study classical ballet and one other discipline.

Katerina Romanenko, Ph.D. Assistant Director of Youth and Family Programs

An experienced educator and visual culture historian, Dr. Romanenko specializes in Museum education, art history, American History, and object-based learning in formal and informal environments. She holds a PhD in Art History from the City University of New York and for more than 15 years teaches art history and works in Museum education. She also holds a BA in Education Sciences and has experience in research, development and implementation of educational programs for different age groups.

Alicia Mino, Art Educator, Manager of the School and Community Programs

An accomplished practicing artists and art educator, Alicia Mino received her Master’s in visual communication from the Metropolitan University of Chile, She spent fifteen years in Italy studying art history, oil painting, and sculpture. She presented in numerous art exhibitions and founded the Mates Art and Design Studio, where she taught drawing, oil/acrylic painting, and sculpture fundamentals for ten years. In 2008 Alicia moved to Philadelphia where she continues to exhibit her work and teaches art.

Lindsey Murphy, Art Educator and K-8 Program Coordinator

An art educator with over a decade of experience in the field of education, Lindsey Murphy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology; concentration in Archaeology from Millersville University, and an Elementary Teaching Certification from Millersville University. She worked as a general education classroom teacher in the Oxford Area School District in Chester County, PA for 8 years, and has worked in PAFA’s education department over the past 11 years creating and implementing numerous museum tours and art making experiences for children and families of all backgrounds, becoming the K-8 Program Coordinator in 2019..

Melissa Hendrixson, Art Educator

Melissa Hendrixson is an artist and art educator who has worked in Museum Education for over five years. She has her Bachelor's of Fine Arts and Studio Certificate from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and has gained experience through assisting the coordination and development of various museum programming including family programs, youth art classes, and summer camps. She now works for the School and Community Partnership Program as an art educator where she develops and implements museum tours, school lessons, and community outreach programs to support student learning, parental engagement and visual literacy initiatives.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our art school is fully stocked with everything needed to be as creative as possible and our fitness offerings include weights, yoga, and outside activity. Our indoor space is 1400 square feet with 2 bathrooms and our outdoor area is 1/2 acre of green space.

She is also the owner of The Health Hut (formerly Yoga Lola Studios) which has been in business for 14 years.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Youth Adventure Program (YAP) is a series of one week courses designed to encourage career exploration in the fields of interest to gifted and talented students. YAP is held on the College Station campus of Texas A&M University, and courses are taught by university professors and other professionals. During the late afternoon and evening hours, students will participate in social and recreation activities that may include a pool party, a night at the movies, an "Amazing Race" or Picture Scavenger Hunt team activity, and our heralded "Wacky Olympics" competition.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: SALT (Service and Leadership Training) campers will have the opportunity to serve the greater camp community while learning ways to engage others in team building initiatives, problem solving, communication and servant-hood. Putting leadership skills into actions, SALT campers will be partially responsible for the mini-campers and will help with the daily ministry operations of the camp. High ropes, including the zip-line and power pole as well as mountain biking, along with other traditional camp activities round out the week of fun and spiritual growth as a SALT participant.

Gilmont Interns participate in a two week camp experience. The first week, they participate with the SALT program and the second week they serve more in an assistant counselor role. If participant is 16 years old the first day of camp, they must have gone through the SALT program. Interns learn teaching techniques; go through discussions in delivery of low ropes course initiatives; help plan and deliver vesper services with guidance from the Spiritual Adviser; plan and teach with one other intern and program staff activities in the second week; take part in and understand all specialty camps; and, discover the fun and responsibilities of becoming a counselor.

CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Olympia has outstanding facilities, including a swimming pool, challenge course, as well as fields and courts for many activities. While most of the activities take place on a 101-acre location, camp has access to hundreds of additional acres of private land. We improve the facility each year with additions and enhancements so campers are always in for a treat when they return. Additions within the last 5 years include our new climbing wall at our swimming pool, new lakeside Olympiatheater that is perfect for Talent Show, New Cluster of Cabins (our largest cluster of cabins ever!), 2-Person Zip Line at the Challenge Course, a Water Balloon Battle Station at the pool, and Aqua Inflatables for both the pool and waterfront! Camp just keeps getting better and better!!!

While Olympia is located on the breezy shores of Lake Livingston, it does get warm in Texas during the summer. Unlike most of the other camps in Texas, all of the cabins, bathrooms, our dining hall, and many of the enclosed areas are air conditioned. Air conditioned cabins make sleeping at night much more comfortable!

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The Camp Olympia Leadership Program (CLP) is the pinnacle of an Olympia camper’s tenure at camp and a once-in-a-lifetime experience! It is a program for prior Camp Olympia campers who are sixteen years of age by July 1.

The CLP Program offers a unique summer camp adventure as it combines a Camp Olympia experience in Texas with a week-long Colorado adventure, including: leadership training, lifeguard and first aid training and certification, rock-climbing, team ropes course and initiatives, whitewater rafting, and climbing a mountain together as a team. This special camp program focuses on building leaders, fostering teamwork and improving self-confidence.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS:
LEADERS-IN-TRAINING (LIT) (ENTERING GRADE 10)
The Camp Shalom and Sports Camp LIT Program (formerly counselor in training) has been designed to allow teens a multifaceted experience. The program contains three core components: leadership training, hands-on counselor skills guidance, and fun, social programming. Each two-week session will focus on a new topic, the opportunity to work with one of three age-groups at camp, and will provide an off-campus trip.

LITs will also have the opportunity to partake in special camp electives created just for them! Under the supervision of the LIT Assistant Director, LITs will meet as a group regularly to attend workshops planned especially for that session’s theme. Upon successful completion of the LIT Program, participants will receive a minimum of 45 community service hours and are eligible for a higher rate of pay as Assistant Counselors at Camp Shalom.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: The Jewish Community Association of Austin maintains a policy of adjusting fees according to family income. The process is strictly confidential. Financial assistance forms are also available at the Welcome Desk, the ECP Front Desk, and in the Youth & Teen Programs Office. In order to be eligible for the limited funds available for financial assistance, you must register for camp and pay all associated registration fees and deposits. Then submit a copy of your camp registration confirmation e-mail with your financial assistance application. Awards of financial assistance are made possible for community members by generous contributions to the Jewish Federation of Greater Austin Annual Campaign and other philanthropic gifts to the JCC.

Deadline for submitting your application is March 7th, 2014.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: JCC Austin has a wide range of classes and programs geared specifically for preschoolers, youth and teens. The J is a great place to build lifelong friends, learn to act and dance, and have fun and stay fit while showing your teamwork and spirit in sports classes and leagues. Whether you want to explore your creativity with art and music classes, put your mind to the test with chess or LEGO Engineering, or build your job skills with babysitter training, we're here for you. Need help with your homework? No problem. Looking for a fun place to go when you're out of school? Come check us out!

Activities are offered year-round so parents never have to wonder what their kids will be doing on their time off. The Early Childhood Program, afterschool programs such as Kids Connection and enrichment classes are available during the week, Saturday Nights at the J, Sunday sports leagues and Birthday Parties make weekends more fun, middleschoolers enjoy Club Tiyul, and a wide variety of Camps are offered during holiday breaks and over the summer months. The JCC Maccabi Games are a yearly favorite with competition around the country and even in Israel!

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Associate CAP Intensive Director and Professor Becky Fredrickson will lead a session especially designed for parents to help them understand the ins and outs of the complicated college audition/application process. CPA & Certified Financial Planner Doug Bryan will present a seminar for parents on financial planning for college education. Both these are free to parents with their student's registration and are highly informative.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Over eight years, we have assisted students prepare for college auditions and seen dozens of camp alumni accepted to such prestigious programs as NYU Tisch, Pace, Belmont, CCM, Rider, Michigan, Oklahoma University, Oklahoma City University, Texas State U., Texas Tech, TCU, UT Arlington, Sam Houston State U., Samford U., University of Central Oklahoma, Abilene Christian U., and many more.

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
$3,500 includes all room/board for both weeks, as well as all activities and events. During camp, students will create their video pre-screens, headshots, work on song & monologue selection, resumes and application essays. CAP Intensive students will also perform in a showcase for guest artists Ken Davenport & Rachel Hoffman which will include a Q&A session. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: This one week camp will focus on ballet class, ballet vocabulary, music,health, nutrition & crafts. A snack will be provided each day.

CAMP FACILITIES: We are a day camp that takes place in our very own dance studio.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: STAND Performing Arts Ministry is a non-profit 501(c)3 that is dedicated to encouraging kids in the gifts and talents God has given them. At STAND, we believe that we are Created to Create, therefore we empower kids in their identity by encouraging them to be all that they are created to be. Our Staff not only consists of amazing, dedicated, and relational teachers that love Christ and the kids, but they also excel in their professions through years of musical, theatre, or dance experience and education. Through this foundation, STAND Summer Camps are designed to provide a fun and safe place for kids to express themselves, and a supportive environment to learn from professionals while working toward an end product.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: As a non-profit, we do not want to turn away any kid from an opportunity to know Christ better and express themselves in community with other peers. Please contact our staff about filling out a scholarship form if necessary.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: In the fall, we have regular nightly classes as well! We also have full-length musicals that we put on each semester. Auditions and class options for Fall 2023 are upcoming and TBD on scheduling.

Students will have daily ballet and modern technique, partnering, pilates, character and tap. Students will prepare a final day performance for Friday, June 20 at 3:00 PM.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Tapestry is a year round non-competitive dance academy for youth & adult students. Our professional adult Tap program is the only full-time tap dance company in North America.

Camps culminate in Saturday performances at the theater.
