BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Summer on Stage at Delaware Theatre Company is a full-day theatre camp for ages 8-15. Campers take part in age-appropriate classes in acting, improvisation, stagecraft, movement, and voice, and work with a director to create and rehearse original plays which they perform on the DTC stage at the end of the session. Campers contribute ideas for original plays, then once scripted by a director, rehearse and perform the plays in a public performance the night before each session ends.
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Dance, Theater, Fine Arts/Crafts, and more. Acting, Improvisation, Dance & Movement, Voice, & Stagecraft Projects.
CAMP LOCATION: Wilmington, Delaware on the revitalized Wilmington Riverfront, with convenient free parking. We are three blocks from the Amtrak/Septa station, and 30 minutes south of Philadelphia.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have a 389-seat theatre with a full proscenium stage and wings and state-of-the-art lighting and sound. We have a large rehearsal hall, a meeting room/classroom space, a scene shop, and dressing rooms.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summer on Stage has been operating for over 30 years. Our staff is comprised of experienced and highly skilled professional theatre performers, directors, and designers, as well as certified teachers.* Our curriculum and assessments are linked to the National Core Arts standards. Our program is student-centered, with a "process over product" philosophy that acknowledges each camper's unique talents and experience and supports each camper's growth in a cooperative rather than a competitive environment. Everyone gets a part in the play because the plays are original works that are germinated in collaborative workshops, then scripted by the directors to allow individual performers a chance to grow and shine! *All staff members have undergone successful background checks.
Each session is three weeks long: Session 1= June 20-July 7, 2023 (no camp June 19 or July 4); and Session 2= July 10-July 28, 2023. This friendly, welcoming camp is great for both beginning performers and those who have experience! Taught by professional theatre artists and educators, Summer on Stage offers a warm, supportive environment for each individual camper to learn and grow while providing campers with artistic tools and guidance in a professional theatre setting! Extended care (morning and afternoon) is available for an additional fee.
CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: At times, adults 18 and over are sought for classroom assistantship positions. Please contact us for more information.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Limited financial aid based on need is available.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: 2019 is our 60th year of continuous programming and our 35th year on the same campus. Our program focuses on three umbrella activity areas: Action, Creation, and Exploration. Our youngest campers cycle through various activities through the day that present interesting challenges that promote growth while being designed for their developmental needs. As our campers grow with us from year to year, they gain more flexibility, eventually creating their own schedules tailored to their interests, including week long clubs that deliver a specialty camp level of programming. By giving the campers the choice of how to run their summer, we empower them as we engage them. Our program is also designed to instill a set of shared values: Respect, Community, Honesty, and Kindness. Our goal is for every camper to grow into the person they are meant to be, summer after summer, as the camp experience is shared with the world.
