BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Jr. Drew Rangers Fencing Summer Camp offers top coaching in fencing to middle school students. Sabre, Foil, Epee are taught by accomplished varsity coaches. Lunch is included. 9 AM - 4:45 PM. Mon-Fri, July 22-26, 2019. Drew University's Simon Forum.
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Team Sports, and more. Fencing - Sabre, Foil, Epee
CAMP LOCATION: Drew University's Simon Forum, on the suburban campus of Drew University, the campus in the woods. The Simon Forum is the home of the two largest high school fencing team tournaments in the world, the Santelli and the Cetrulo.
CAMP FACILITIES: The Simon Forum is a modern top notch athletic facility with a state of the art multi sport surface. The lunch meals are prepared by the campus dining hall.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: This is a fencing camp with all weapons, sabre, foil, epee offered. Kids with zero experience entering 5th through 9th grade are welcome. Kids with fencing experience 4th through 8th are welcome.
Camp Director, Vince Paragano, is the head fencing coach for Drew University. He is also the founder of the Bernards HS Fencing Team and the Governor Livingston Fencing Team. He is a multi Pan-American gold medal winner. He is one of few college fencing coaches who are still actively competing. Two of his children were top performing NJ high school fencers.
Camp Assistant Director, Dayn DeRose, is the former head coach for Drew University of 25 years. He is the head coach of South Mountain Fencing in Madison, NJ. He is a certified Maestro d' Arms with the US Fencing Coaches Association.
Camp Head Coach, Jerry Duffey, is the head coach for the Chatham High School Fencing Teams. The 2018-19 teams were the most successful yet in Chatham fencing, winning both the boys' and girls' NJAC Conference Championships, 3 District-1 Squad Championships, 2 District-1 Individual Champions, Morris County Boys' Team Championship and Individual Champion, Santelli Women's Sabre Squad bronze medal and Team 4th, Cetrulo Men's Sabre silver medal and team 7th, NJSIAA Fencing State Squads Men's Sabre silver medal and Women's Sabre bronze medal, NJSIAA Fencing Individual State Men's Sabre 4th, 5th, and 12th place, three NJSIAA Fencing All State Team Members.
YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Several of the camp coaches are available for private lessons. Several of the coaches run middle school or high school fencing teams in the area and can help you start a team at your school.
CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
Registration and payment are available online at Jr.DrewRangersFencing.com Space is limited.
The cost is $525 per student.
Check-in is July 21, 1 PM - 3 PM.
Sessions are July 22 - 26
Start time is 9 AM. End time is 4:45 PM with pickup by 5 PM.
Lunch is included as part of the camp, M-F.
A wrap up tournament is being scheduled for July 27th.
